Haarlemmerstraat is just around the corner to do your grocery shopping but is also a great street to walk around and visit the unique little shops.
Stroll along the Noordermarkt on Saturday morning. Its biological market is a tasty place to be and to buy great food or just relax on the cafés around the market with there well visited terraces in the summer (try the 'Appeltaart met slagroom' a true Dutch tradition to eat).
Visit the special area 'the nine streets', these picturesque streets straddle the 17th Century canals from the Singel to the Prinsengracht. Have a great day wandering from one to the next exploring the designer boutiques, art galleries, jewellers, gift shops, fashion shops, specialist businesses and there is a wide variety in bars and restaurants.
One of the best ways to get around Amsterdam and see the region is of course by bike and there are many establishments in this area that offer bicycles for rent at reasonable prices.
