Amsterdam City Center Apartment

On first sight of the property I was very dubious. When the front door was opened by my host, Ramzi, there was a pile of mail which obviously hadn't been picked up for days. The carpets on the stairs were worn and dirty and the stairs - well! They were so long, steep and uneven and holding on to the handrail was unpleasant as they were covered in plaster dust and bits, where someone had obviously been doing some filling. Quite a bit of plaster was missing from the walls and a very large crack from floor to ceiling had been filled with foam which hadn't even been smoothed off. It all smelled musty and it looked seedy and the lights, what there were of them, kept going out At least Ramzi had carried my 17 kg bag up to the first floor but I wanted to see the apartment on the third floor before we went any further with my bags. Having climbed the remainder of the stairs I felt very bad. I have a heart problem and the stairs very nearly did for me. The apartment was not really as advertised. There was a small double bed in a tiny room at the back with no window. The toilet and shower were so small that you didn't actually enter but rather you put them on like ill fitting coat. Although Ramzi offered me a glass of water I declined as I feared the quality of water may have been like the rest of the experience, dusty and really rather run down. I had booked for three days and the thought of having to negotiate those stairs again filled me with horror. I had to tell Ramzi that I couldn't stay and he could see my distress. We went to Amsterdam as a party of two couples to celebrate my 30th birthday. Had a fantastic time, but unfortunately would not recommend the apartment. The stairs up were a nightmare 5 floors up (you have two flights of stairs before you get to the first floor). They were very steep but also tilting a lot, as is the whole building. The apartment itself was ok, but the toilet/shower room was tiny. I am only 5ft tall and my legs were squashed against the toilet door when I was using the toilet. The bed in the bedroom and sofa bed in the living room were comfy. Ramzi was on holiday when we arrived but his friend Anco welcomed us in and was very pleasant and answered our questions. We did enjoy our trip but definitely won't be heading back to that apartment.

Beautiful holiday and the apartment is a bit 'pending but cozy and comfortable and in a quiet neighborhood on foot or by bike. In the house there is all the essentials for a nice quiet holiday in Amsterdam!!

The service and instructions given by the host were very friendly. Once we couldn't manage to open the gas for cooking and, although he wasn't near, he came to help us immediately. The apartment itself was comfortable, clean and nicely decorated. You could see some abrasion on the couch or on the walls from former guests but it was still ok. Towels, an electric iron and a washing maschine were part of the extra service. The location is great - close to nearly every point in the center, A negative point is the stairway because there it smells of mildew and the ground is uneven. Further daily walking up to the 3rd floor feels like an exercise. The bathroom was small and tall people shouldn't try to use it. Although the apartment is really cool the price is expensive. All in all we really enjoyed our stay in the apartment and would love to stay there again on our next trip to Amsterdam.

The property is sinking with walls having huge cracks, stairs leaning and roof leaking. We were advised there was a dispute with other apartment owners hence why the foundations had not been fixed. There was a bowel catching rainwater near the door and the smell of damp was very strong. The shower and toliet are in an area the size of a phone box and there was no basin at all. Bedroom was internal with no windows. No offence to owner but was the worst apartment I have stayed in so far. Sorry..

The apartment was fine, the owner was a nice guy, it was clean and there were no problems.

The apartment is clean, but it is clear that this is a bit "hidden poverty". The hallway to get there is also very dirty and smells really bad, which leaves us to ask questions about the other residents of the building ... The bathroom is tiny (hard to close the door when you're sitting on the toilet). Otherwise, well-equipped apartment (windshield, drats very clean, hairdryer, senseo, coffee, ...), ... We would generally satisfied if we did not have a big trouble with the door on Saturday night. The lock rather dilapidated never wanted to open. We try to prevent the owner, but in vain. So we had to stand in the cold for 2 hours, at night!

Very friendly and welcoming. Excellent location, 15mn walking distance to Amsterdam centraal station and the red light district. There is a lot of shops around, buses, trams and park. Clean and well organised. Really enjoyed my stay here

Apartment correct, clean and clear. Some kitchen utensils could be improved (pan) Close to all amenities. A bit noisy because overlooking a boulevard that runs the tram (but it has charm)

Although this appartment was relatively comfortable, it was a struggle getting up and down the steep 3 flights of stairs. The appartment was close to transport with good restaurants near by. There was little support once arrived, yet communication good with owner. Could improve lighting and heating. Kitchen adequate, bathroom really tiny.
