The property was on the third floor with access through a shared entrance hall. The shared entrance hall was in a very poor state of repair to the point of appearing derelict. The first floor housed two separate advertising companies set on either side of a set of broken windows. The smell of glue and chemicals from these companies dominated the building. There was another company of the same kind on another floor. We hired this flat for 9 people, as advertised, but there was no living room and therefore unsuitable for a family renting out the entire apartment for a family reunion. The “kitchen” was not a room with cooking facilities but a recess in a wall with a small hand-basin and a small cupboard. At the other end of the corridor there was a fridge, a kettle, a microwave and a single tabletop ring. It would not have been possible to cook a meal. Even if it had been possible to cook there was no dining table or other communal space. We would have had to eat in our beprovision of dishes was inadequate and we would have had to eat in our bedrooms. The sheets on the beds were too small and they were unable to tuck the sheets in - the sheets had to be simply laid onto the mattress so that during the night the sheet would ruck up to expose the bare mattress. Apart from a single point the views from the apartment were of nearby derelict buildings. One of the bedrooms contained the combi gas boiler. Eventually we were moved to another flat on the same road. The second flat was a 4 bedroom apartment (3 doubles and 1 single, i.e. 7 persons) and this was offered as an alternative to the 9 person apartment we had originally booked and paid for. No refunds were offered. There was a kitchen with 4 gas rings and a living room with good view. The apartment is classed as “family friendly” on the Windmu website. The problems with it are as follows: The hallway was derelict – the window panes were missing from the windows on the first floor, at second floor level, some of the banister rails were missing, leaving a hole into the stairwell, easily large enough for a child to fall down. There were rats in the building – at night we heard the sound of scurrying and wood being gnawed. The bathroom cabinet was simply a jumble of odd bits of wood and chipboard with at least one shelf missing. The kitchen door was off its hinges and was simply propped up against the wall. The kitchen equipment consisted of one small saucepan and a larger saucepan (with no lid), 10 odd plates and 10 glass tumblers. There were only 2 desert spoons and 2 plastic bowls which were so cracked that they did not hold liquids. There were no mugs or teacups so we had to drink our tea from pint glasses and whiskey tumblers. Some of the furniture was in a state of disrepair with handles missing or broken, or holes in the soft furnishings. The table in the kitchen seated 3-4 people and therefore breakfast and any other meals that we wished to eat in the apartment, had to be eaten on our laps in the living room, around the coffee table. Toilet roll holder broken and continually falling off the wall. The truth is that i had organised this holiday for a family reunion but the accommodation was an embarrassment. The description states that the flat had been restored traditionally by artisans, but the overall finish was not good. The original features (e.g. painted ceilings) were overwhelmed by the unprofessionally fitted kitchen cabinets, the electrics and bathroom. Whilst the location of both flats was superb, the quality of the flats themselves are awful. They are more suitable for back-packers at say for £7-10 per room per night – they are certainly not suitable for families.

Bright room-Beautiful apartment 2

The apartment is very centrally located. The interior was zwegsmässig and well equipped. Unfortunately, not everything was perfect. The cleanliness of the apartment was very bad. The bathroom may have been cleaned for the last time months ago. The roof terrace is absolutely the best. It has a view of the most beautiful places in Istanbul. Conclusion:. Yeah! Apartment is cheap, but very dirty. There were cockroaches and that bothered us. For one or two days bearable, but I would no longer want to stay in this apartment. It was, in my opinion, is no legal angemelgete Guesthouse. No marked fire exits, fire extinguishers seen any. More of a black market business.

Amazing Bosphorus' view Room for 2 in historical apartment*****(7) 4

Because the rooms in this house were full Tamuna gave us a room in the opposite building. Advantage was the wonderful terrace with a fantastic view over the Bosporus. Our room had a nice view and the bed was good. For the rest we had the same experience as Eddy. A lot of small technical problems that could have been solved easily and rooms that could be cleaned better. It was disappointing that Tamuna did not react on our complaints. Conclusion: very nice apartments, super location but it is disappointing that you have to accept the disadvantages of “authentic” rooms ….

Apartment with Bosphorus View Terrace 3

Positiv aspects: Very nice apartment with beautiful rustic renovation. Beds were good with clean linen. Terrace with a fantastic view. Very close to all important places. Negativ aspects: Furniture was in bad condition (broken doors of cupboard, the small table in the bigger bedroom had only three of four legs!). The rooms were not very clean (dust in and on furniture and very old/dirty rugs). The Kitchen is very small and was also dirty. Dirty shower and closet. Towel holder and toilet paper holder were damaged. The broken shower head sprayed water out of all possible holes and its bracket was also damaged. One incident was very disturbing for us. That was when a renter of another apartment came at night and opened our apartment door with his keys and asked us if we have the keys to the roof terrace. Summary: All-in-all it was a nice stay. But for this rental, in my opinion it should be possible to eliminate most of the defects.

Tamuna is a landlady who you can trust completely. Welcome to the Galata Tower is very simple. The apartment is conveniently located near the Bosphorus, shopping streets, tram, metro etc.. The terrace is beautiful! The room was very clean. I loved to host Tamuna. Trust and enjoy it!

Cheap single room in authentic building/Galata Tower area ***(12) 5

I liked my room a lot. The apartment offers some cooking facilities and a washing machine and WiFi. Shower and toilet are shared with three other rooms within the apartment and are kept exceptionally clean. Depending on the occupants of the other rooms it can probably get a bit noisy but didn't during my stay. The Apartment is situated in an old building with lots of atmosphere and a sitting area on the roof top which offers an unbelievable view of the Bosporus. Liked it very much. Tamuna was an accommodating and helpful hostess and very friendly. Highly recommended.

Romantic room next to the Galata Tower****(3) 4

A really pleasant few days. Tamuna met us promptly, provided a beautifully turned out apartment (5 bedrooms, all to ourselves), with Bosphorus views and a roof terrace for eating breakfast and early morning exercises... Top recommendations also from Tamuna on local fresh fish and a Hammam in north Taksim where we had a round trip in a taxi and a good couple of hours of massage, scrub and unwind for about £20 each. Things to improve - a lock on the bathroom door!

Apartment with Bosphorus View Terrace 4

Very good location nice apartment. Terrace with great views! Nice landlady. Everything went perfectly with her. Overview (left below the photo) but it has two flaws: It only has 4 bedrooms! Not 5 One of them has three chairs and one table, so you can use it as a living room. But if one is to seventh or eight, you have no living room! The 130 square meter also agree not safe. There is a lot smaller. But if you know the: Recommended!
