Our first contact with the caretaker, an old man who speaks only Chinese unsuccessful. We call the person charged by Miss Fung and welcome us with his broken English, we come to understand that the key is hanging on the door handle. To get there, we must first be able to open a screen (hidden push-button mechanism from below). Inside, a green plant greets us at the entrance, but withered leaves fallen on the ground indicate that the household has not been done. The fridge contains leftovers. The beds are made, makes you wonder if it is clean. No towels in the bathrooms, no hot running water, no wi-fi: called Jimmy's friend delegated by Miss Fung supposedly to welcome us, but it never came despite having announced that in 15 to 30 minutes it would open us the door. Past disappointment at the reception, we discover a renovated apartment, well furnished and spacious. The first night we must get used to sleeping on a hard mattress, in a rather noisy (traffic on Nathan Road just down).
The apartment is excellent with (1) Great location, (2) clean and tidy, and (3) very responsive check in arrangement. My family and I stayed there for 2 nights and it is a wonderful experience. I visited temple street nearby which is fun. the apartment is spacious and can fit 6 people no problem. I would definitely consider to stay here again. Thanks for providing a place with very reasonable price and save me a lot money.
Convenient location, the downstairs is Nathan, my friends and family are very fond of, Even shopping 晩 the back streets or hot Nao, it is easy to find your way home. The place is clean, newly renovated soon, I feel very comfortable, especially with two bathrooms, you can save a lot of time. Although the Building, located in the Nao market, do not feel outsiders CCTV is working well, you can rest assured residence. Recommendable preferred to live in Hong Kong.
We enjoyed our stay at Miss Fung's apartment. It is spacious (for Hong Kong) and well placed near markets and transport. As we were out and about most of the time we didn't use the kitchen much. There was stacks of hot water for the four of us and there seemed to be a continuous supply - I had been worried from a previous review about lack of hot water.
The only disappointment was a slight hiccup in getting into the apartment when we arrived as we could not get Jimmy on the mobile number given, but Miss Fung kept in touch through Wimdu and the housekeeper ( who was lovely) let us in. Particularly appreciated the clear directions we received prior to arriving and being able to store suitcases until 3.00 pm.
Would use this apartment again.
Great location and the place was nice & clean. Not quite a big as we were expecting, but ok. Email/phone communication leading up to our stay was good, and we were met at the appt. The beds there sleep 8, plus there are a couple of mattresses for the floor which I guess would take it to 12 ppl. Wifi was free and worked well. Is right above MTR Yau Ma Tei station, plenty of shopping and eating places in the area. Good value for money compared to a hotel, and great if you want your stay to be a more authentic Hong Kong experience.
To be very objective, i shall start with the pros: its conveniently located above YMT MTR exit; its cheap compared to hotels(and t'was peak period in HK); easy to find food & convenience stores nearby.
Now, to share my experience of staying in the house. I can only say i wont ever stay again. Firstly when we arrive, the person who was suppose to meet us wasnt there and we had to wait about 20mins for another lady to open the door for us to enter the hse. Upon entering the house, it was still in a mess due to the earlier tenants checking out late, fine, so we put our luggage down and head out till it was clean up.
When we return later in the night, we found bedsheets, towels hanging in the room & living room..to add on to the extreme cold winter, all the windows were open supposedly to dry the bedsheets i guess. Thats fine still, the worse experience of living in the house was the shower - there were 2 bathroom - we literally had only 5-10mins to shower before the water turns cold in the super cold winter! and even thou there were 2 bathroom, we ended up taking turns 1by 1 to bath because the hot water does not support 2 person bathing at the same time because once the HOT water in the storage tank is use up, it times to heat up again. When i called Jimmy(miss fung assistant supposedly) to ask why we had to shower in cold water, his answer were most hongkongers shower ONLY 10MINS. DUH!
Also the house was super cold in the winter and when i ask for heater, he said he cant help and every night i had to slept in a super cold room.
Never coming back again.
We have stayed with Miss Fung's place (Yau Ma Tei) for 4 days & 3 nights. We are a group of 10 people and we fit in comfortably in the place considering Hong Kong is very well known for its small space. It is clean and well maintained, some basic kitchen utensils are available for families who preferred home cook meals. The apartment is also secured with a doors man on the ground floor and double lock on the main door.
Location wise the building is very ideal as Yau Ma Tei MTR station is just in front of the building, whether you wanted to go to Central area or Disneyland, the MTR can take you there without any hassle. Bus stops are also near and has an express bus (A21) to the Airport. Furthermore for those people who loves night market, the apartment it very accessible as it is just one MTR stop away .
We highly recommend this for groups or family traveling. We will definitely book again on our possible next trip.
Ms Fung was very patient and replies at once to my queries about the apartment. She gave a wrong apartment unit # but it was just a small issue since Jimmy, the contact person (and his aunt), were very accommodating and helpful. They answered my calls and replied also thru SMS.
The building in Yau Ma Tei where the apartment unit belongs to is an old one but my family appreciated the security. It is also a few steps away from YMT MTR exit and bus stop. It is also a few streets away from the Temple St Night Market and the Mongkok markets. There were lots of shops and restaurants when you go down.
The apartment was newly renovated and very clean when we arrived. But newly washed bed sheets and pillowcases were hung in the rooms for drying (It's an eyesore). The rooms are just right in size. We so loved the living room because it's very spacious and has good lighting :) The 2 bathrooms were small but both were ok with us since the heaters are working properly. Rolls of tissue were also provided. Ms Fung told us to bring our own towels but there were towels hung in the bathrooms. Aircon in all rooms were working and wifi was very fast. Kitchen things/utensils were available, you just have to buy cooking oil if you're planning to cook.
I highly recommend this apartment especially for families :) We were a group of 8 where 2 are kids and 3 are senior citizens. We were very comfortable and enjoyed our stay here.
i shall say one thing first, we booked a 3 room with 2 toilets but it turned up to be only 1 toilet!! this made us very upset, as some of us girls uses the toilet for quite sometime while preparing. when we told her we booked the apartment with 2 toilets and even showing her the email. she said no this is the one! :( anyways, i shall say the pros first, it is value for money. saved alot on accomodation by staying here. the host was friendly and very helpful. location was very convient come out of Yau ma tei mrt and it is just 10-20 steps away. there is a security guard at the lift lobby so it is very safe. bed sheets are clean, no bed bugs or anything crawly, they provide tooth brush and towel(however i suggest bringing your own) Now for the cons, One major bad thing was that we requested for toilet rolls,as there was only 1 left when we moved in we told her on the spot which she said there was somemore in the drawer before rushing off. so we searched the whole apartment, however there was none!! 1 toilet roll for 6 people for 5 days?! we called immediately later in the day when we moved in she said that she would get someone to drop the toilet roll at the living room, but none came infact when she said that we were worried would alot of people know the password to come into the apartment. so we locked all our room doors and took the key with us and bought our own tissue! most of the beds are as hard as wood, literally. i had back ache side ache because i wasn't use to the hardness. there is only 1 toilet so even though the apartment can fit till 12 people easily you only have 1 toilet so remember. we had 6 people staying there and we had to take turns. Tv has very few stations, when i sat on the cushion sofa i felt that my skin was ichy, same goes for the other girls. the middle room's aircon could not be adjusted according to my friend. the kitchen's sink tap felt like it was going to fall off. And basically the place could be tidier, there were things everywhere. broken lamp, plastic bags, left over things from previous people who stayed. the host only clears the bedsheet and mops the floor. overall, it could be better, but i will not come back to stay there sadly. sorry and thanks for the stay.
