Penthouse with Beautiful View

Henri was not only has a very grand spot in a good location but also went all out to ensure we knew our route in and out of Amsterdam and provided us was good local knowledge. He was was always available when needed. The apartment is both modern, rustic and fully functional, with great views over the waters. The bus stops right outside the complex and goes directly to and from Amsterdam central (7 minutes maybe, 8 stops). I took the bus to the apartment and ventured alone to walk back to Central station to meet friends that were arriving and it was an easy 15 minute walk, even without a map, just memorising the bus route. I took longer than 15 minutes the first time distracted by the shops in Central of course and getting a feel for the vibe of Amsterdam, roaming side streets instead of following my set route. From that point we didn't even use our 3 day travel pass and walked most places. Cheers Henri, I would definitely stay again.

We stayed at Henri's apartment for 3 nights. He greeted us at the apartment with a cup of coffee each and advised us what we could do in Amsterdam. He was very welcoming and made us feel at home. The apartment... What can I say?? It was absolutely stunning. There were amazing pieces of artwork in every room and the beds were so comfy. The location was ideal, not too close to the hustle and bustle of the red light district (20 minute walk) and a stones throw from the Jordaan area which was an up and coming district of Amsterdam. Next time we go to the dam, we will stay at Henri's apartment again if it is available!

Fantastic Host. Stunning Apartment. A 15 minute walk toward the centre, but the walks are the best part in this fantastic city. A recommendation for all.

As we read the last review, we were really shocked - all after we had paid already booked /! We had but a very nice e-mail communication with Henri, where we could discuss the shortcomings and said our expectations. This good impression was confirmed when we arrived where we Henri took very friendly in reception and assist in locating the driveway was. Warning: check the correct address for this Navi! If we compare the stark impressions of our poor previous tenant (which we take extremely seriously and we hereby expressly thank for that!) With our impressions, we must say that it has become much better. Except in terms of the cleanliness of the kitchen. Because we agree with the opinion of our previous tenant. It is highly desirable before further rental to invest in a thorough cleaning of the kitchen! The tendency to move away from the previous chaos, however, is clearly noticeable in all other rooms! Anyway, you can ask for at the price that the music system works ... at the apartment and is great in itself.

Sorry, but we were disappointed: The cleanliness of the apartment was lacking. Glass surfaces such as the glass table in the dining area, television in the living room, mirrors and oven were smeared and dirty. The countertops in the kitchen were dirty and needed to be cleaned before use only. A dirty dish in the dishwasher from the mold was down (it lived so) grew beyond the dishwasher was not salt and rinse aid. The use was not possible until after we had shopped rinse aid and salt in the supermarket. In the coffee machine still was a complete and already dried coffee filters. The glass shelves in the fridge were very dirty and the rubber seals of the refrigerator freezer were moldy and torn, unfortunately it does not make healthy and hygienic impression. The landlord must have been cat owners (cat flap in the master bedroom) and cat hair found themselves in freshly made beds. Overall, the apartment could use some cleaning up the vacuuming and dusting includes well done. The apartment is of the size and location of a nice apartment if you do not have to make another 2 hours until clean. Price and performance are therefore no longer in proportion.
