The major museums make this area a paradise for art lovers. Furthermore, you will find here many luxury boutiques, cafes and the majestic concert hall, the world famous Concertgebouw from 1888. Because of its highly regarded acoustics, this concert hall is considered one of the finest venues for classical music worldwide.
At the other end of the Vondelpark you will find Leidseplein. This place is synonymous for nightlife till dawn. At Leidseplein you find the Stadsschouwburg, which is the main theatre, several cinemas, many bars, clubs and restaurants, as well as the famous music temples Paradiso and Melkweg.
Our accommodation is positioned so advantageous that a relaxed, half hour walk through Vondelpark - will take you to the high-cultural cluster or to the very heart of the entertainment area at Leidseplein.
In the direct neighbourhood of our house you can find everything the makes your weekend break in Amsterdam comfortable and enjoyable. In walking distance there are a number of cafes, a wide selection of inspiring restaurants and international take-away ranging from so-called Asian Streetfood, to Japanese, Indonesian, Thai and Indian, back to Europe via the Italian or French kitchen and even a Dutch 2-star restaurant. There is an outstanding wine bar next door; in summer one might prefer the beer garden at Vondelpark (not more than 100 meters walking distance). Walking down the street, there are many convenience stores including a well-stocked supermarket (during the week open until 10pm, on Sundays open until 7pm), a couple of small grocery stores, several bakeries, an eco-food-store, an exquisite small corner shop selling the most delicious ice-cream, and very important - a late night shop that opens until 1am.
Our bed and breakfast is easily accessible with public and private transport. 2 tram lines (line-nr 1 and 2) have stops in close proximity to our house and connect straight to the Central Station at the IJ-embankment. The motorway exits S106-S107-S108 are very close-by and the international Airport Schiphol is located in 12,5 km distance, easily accessible as well by train. Parking in our area costs 3,- EUR per hour or 21,60 EUR per day (Mo-Sa; Su free parking). Alternatively, in close vicinity to our house, at the northern side of the 1928 Olympic Stadium, there is a public garage that costs 8,- EUR per day (P+R a municipal park and ride facility).
We offer 2 guest rooms of 25 m2 (no.1) and 16 m2 (no.2) on the second floor of our private house. In fact, the rooms are offered separately, but can be requested together. There is maximum space for 4 persons.
This offer concerns the smaller room of 16 m2. The room is modestly furnished with some 70ies/80ies furniture. It has a French bed with good matrasses. The rooms share the bathroom which is equipped with a bath tub, washing stand and a toilet. This room has an extra washing stand.
Wireless internet is available.
Generally we don’t do breakfast and it is not included in the room rates. There are however two very recommendable cafés in close proximity, which open early in the morning. Using our kitchen for making coffee or tea is always possible.
Next door is a bicycle repair shop that is renting bikes as well. The rental fee is 10,- EUR per bicycle per day.
Room reservations should require a minimal stay of 2 nights with a maximum of 30 nights. In principle we are as flexible as possible. If single guest-nights fit between other reservations, we would consider acceptance as well. We assume you understand that our accommodation offers non-smokers rooms only, drugs are strictly forbidden.
