Nice apartment on an awesome location. A few meters away from Seokchon Lake, with heaps of restaurants just around one corner, and a bus stop around the other. Best part of Seoul. The apartment itself is small but very warm and cosy with all the ammenities and privacy. Mr. and Mrs. Hwang were very nice.

We just returned from a wonderful stay at this clean and cosy basement appartment, which had all we needed including very friendly hosts. Great we could even leave some luggage and food while heading south to Jeju Island for a few days! The location is highly recommendable, safe and quiet though close enough to the Metro station of Jamsil, a 15 min. walk along a lake and through the park. As the appartment is not located within the host's living quarters, we had all the privacy and independence we liked, yet could always contact Mr. Hwang if necessary. The surprise breakfast on our last morning was highly appreciated, as was the ride to the airport bus station.

Nice, clean and very private. The hosts are both very nice and friendly. I would definitely stay there again if I visit Seoul again. It's a bit far from the station, a good 20 minutes walk, but every thing is available at the Jamsil station.

This a an excellent house with great furniture and electric appliance. Since there are private toilet and kitchen inside the room, it makes everything very convenient. The location of the house is great too as it takes only about 15mins to get to the railway station on foot. You can also choose to take a bus. Last but not least, Mr & Mrs Hwang are very nice, they were willing to help us when we had any problems. I want to thank them here again as I caught a cold during the trip, and they did not hesitate to give me lots of help and care, thanks so much :)

This "villa" turned out to be one of four basement apts in the Hwang house. The apt was about a 15 min walk to seokchun subway station; despite the apt being nearby jamsil station and lotte world, we didn't feel it was within walkable distance (taxis are fairly cheap). The area is very residential and there isn't a whole lot in the area (there is a nice jimjilbang about two blocks away). The apt has heated floors and central heating which was great for the cold winter. While the overall cleanliness of the apt was decent, we noticed the hot water boiler had mold inside so we didn't use it. As another reviewer noted, the bathroom ceiling is very low (just above our 5'3 heads). The toilet seat also was not screwed down on one side and would constantly move. It would've also been nice if they left us with an extra roll of toilet paper or if they could provide a hair dryer. We didn't have much interaction with the hosts, but they were nice enough to help us with our luggage and call us a taxi when we were leaving. For the price, it was a decent stay.

Lovely family. Picked us up from the station and dropped us off as we were moving to another location. On the first night they even cooked for us! What an awesome way to start. The place is very basic, but it is warm and if you don't mind a traditional Korean shower, and a 10 minute walk to the station I think you will find this place quite a gem.

We found these accommodations to be excellent and suited our needs perfectly. The location in Jamsil is “local”. This is definitely not a tourist area, although Lotte World is close by. I am western and my “better half” is Korean. You can walk 20 minutes to the Jamsil subway station or walk 5 minutes to a bus stop and take a bus to the station. Use T-Money cards and the bus is included in the subway fee. There were very few westerners in this section of Seoul and I enjoyed the stares of toddlers as I walked through the streets. The local population was age diverse and friendlier than I have typically experienced in major cities and I felt comfortable at any hour. Many very good local restaurants and grocery stores are located in short walking distance. Coffee shops permeate all of Seoul and Jamsil is no exception. Seokchon Lake park, Olympic park and the Hangang river walk are all close by and thoroughly enjoyable for the exercise and nature lover. Locals enjoying a spirited game of Baduk (often accompanied by an enthusiastic audience) ring the tree shaded alcoves of Seokchon Lake. The restaurants and shops are primarily for the local population so everything is written in Korean. If you use the time honored method of selecting your restaurant by the number of locals enjoying the establishment, you will be pleased. The proprietor will probably not speak anything but Korean, but they are extremely helpful and with a combination of pictures and hand pointing, you will have a wonderful eating experience. Don’t expect western food. You’re in Korea. The accommodations themselves were clean and certainly adequate. It is a “basement apartment” about 2 feet below ground level. Even so, it was dry and very comfortable. In the last two weeks that we were there, it was very cold and snowy in Seoul however the bedroom was warm and comfortable. The kitchen is small but certainly adequate. The bathroom/shower room is also adequate, however one should be aware that the ceiling in the bathroom/shower is about 5’10” (178 cm) so it you are taller than that, it may be uncomfortable. The host family was very friendly and helpful. The few requests that we had were immediately satisfied. We would definitely stay at this facility again.

This guest house was small, but quite nice for the summer. It is also in a great location. You can walk to Lotte World and Lotte Department store and Olympic Park. COEX is a few stops away.
