Apartment in XVIII Century House

We were very well received by Luis in his beautiful home. This one is very well placed close to the ocean and the bus that takes us directly to the city center in 15 minutes ... We had a great stay. N.Gresse

The location of the apartment is top! 100 m from the beach on the Douro and only 5 minute walk to the Atlantic Ocean. Historic tram stop almost at the door. Good connection to the center of Porto. (Bus, taxi only about 5-6 €)

A very important detail missing around the apartment in the house: it's a basement apartment, very dark (I think there are 20 lamps in the apartment) - and the worst of all: moist, with consequent damp foul odor. We had allergic reactions with runny noses the first 2 days - images can also give the impression there is a balcony and views of the Atlantic Ocean, but the basement apartment can not be seen in the picture - there is no view and no balcony. We contacted the landlord and got quick response, but there was no alternative - we could use the dehumidifier. We did this even though we most wanted to move on the hotel. In the beginning we emptied 3-4 liters of water a day - after a week "only" 2 liters. The facilities are ok for the cheap rent, good location, great transport options to the city center, but we must say we only used the apartment when we slept. We were not taken south to sit in a dark damp smelling apartment, so instead of sitting on a balcony and enjoy a book and a glass of port wine, it was for many walks in the area and all meals at cafes and restaurants. Our stay at Casa Bellavista was wonderful! The house is charming, well equipped and very well located. The Foz do Douro is a very interesting and beautiful neighborhood, with Public Transport at ease. In addition to a good trade.
