Description
This is the SoBro Guest House, located in the South Bronx aka SoBro, New York, a hustling & bustling trendy and hip neighborhood. Just search SoBro Bronx, NY and you will see what the area has to offer. We are walking distance (1 Block) to the Antique District which boasts an assortment of Cafes, Lounges, Bars, Art Galleries and Antique shops. Alexander's Bar on Alexander Ave, The Piano Factory, Bruckner Bar and Grill, Wish 37 just to name a few.

You can walk to Manhattan over the Willis Ave Bridge which is located on the corner. Or jump on the # 6 Train and you are only one stop away from the City of NY! The # 6 train is located approximately 4 blocks away or a 5 minute walk. Yankee Stadium is about a half hour walk or 10 minute train ride. The Center of Manhattan is 25 Minutes away. And if you don't feel like going to NYC you have lots of shopping right here in the neighborhood.

The Guest House is easily accessible from JFK, Newark, and La Guardia Airports via the Metro so you do not have to waste money on taking a taxi.

We would advise that only the adventurous and more open minded stay here. We are ideally located very close to Manhattan. The neighborhood is eclectic and vibrant and once you step outside the Guest House your neighbors will be real New Yorker's, not tourists. This may be enticing to some but scary to others. Highly recommend if you are looking for a true New York experience with real New Yorkers!

The building itself is very safe and secure. Ray lives on premise and is able to deal with any issues should they arise. The studio is private with your own lock and key. Fresh bed linens and towels are provided. You have your own bathroom and kitchenette with mini fridge. We have international students and tourists staying with us from all over the world. The studio has a queen size bed and is located on the 2nd Floor of a renovated Mott Haven Brownstone.

L'IMPATTO NoN E' STATO DEI MIGLIORI IN QUANTO AVEVAMO AVvISATO REY DEL NOSTRO ARRIVO DI MATTINA PRESTO E LUI CI AVEVA ASSICURATO CHE SAREBBE STATO A DISPOSIZIONE INVECE APPENA ARRIVATI ABBIAMO CHIAMaTO VARIE VOLTE AL TELEFONO SENZA RISPOSTA AD ASPETTARE CON LE VALIGE ALLA POrTA ,PER PIU' DI UN ORA, PERCHE' TELEFONAVAMO E NESSUNO CI RISPONDEVA DOPO UN ORA E MEZZA FINALMENTE REY E' APPARSO ..STAVA DORMENDO E' QUESTO QUELLO CHE CI HA DETTO!!!!

Paid £870 for 14 nights. Got there no problem after pre booking a car to pick us up on arrival at JFK airport which took about 20 mins. We spent most days in Manhattan which is only a short Subway ride away so only really used the apartment as a place to sleep. On arrival we were disappointed as the photographs are quite deceiving. Walls could all do with a serious lick of paint as they were chipped, really worn & dirty, there was no reception on the TV and on days 7 & 11 water began coming through the ceiling from the room above which was obviously an ongoing issue as water damage was already visible and quite noticeable on our arrival. The street outside was really very badly kept with a lot of litter & bags full of allsorts left on pathways. However the locals seemed ok & shop owners were all helpful & decent enough. All in all we had a fab time in NYC. If you are looking for somewhere cheap & don't plan on spending much time indoors then this is ideal but if it's luxury, home comforts & relaxation then this is not the place for you. But remember if you want to experience the real NYC you have to get in amongst real New Yorkers & we certainly were.

The studio was basic, but practical.

However, the kitchen supplies were below standard. There was only one coffeecup, no tea towel etc. When we asked for these items (email), Greg responded very quickly, but he choose to let this be handled by his local caretaker. The suggestion was to get these items from the kitchen of another apartment, but there was also not enough.

When we approached the caretaker during the day, he was clearly not awake and send us away. So we asked Greg again, he said he would take care of it, but he never did.
In the end we bought our own cups and towels and took these home with us at the end of our stay.

Internet (repeater) was very flaky, it kept dropping out every day. I happen to be a 25+ years experienced network-engineer, so I could login and reset the repeater every day, but an average client would have been in dire straits.

Overall, the apartment could have been a bit cleaner. (floor, kitchen, towels ..)

The local Subway (line 6, 3rd avenue) is only a few minutes away, so Manhattan was easy to get to.

Local neighborhood was very alive, a nice mixture of Spanglish people and restaurants, shops, etc.

The accommodation was all in all okay.

-It could have been cleaner
-W-Lan was bad (coming and going)

+ Location was super to us, in a few minutes one was at the Subway Station Brook Av. (Line 6) with which one could drive directly to Manhattan or the Brooklyn Bridge. For JFK Airport, it takes almost two hours.

There is a comfortable bed and a folding bed. In March it was relatively cool but it was well heated. There was always hot water. In the kitchen there was a stove, microwave and refrigerator.

The studio is indeed in the Bronx, perhaps does not look like in Manhattan and one also does not take tourists, but if you're open and polite people are very accommodating. You also need not be afraid if you late at night comes home.

I enjoyed my stay as a guest of Ray and Greg. The place was a very good choice. Greg always got right away in touch with me and made me feel comfortable, even when I had a flight delay. Directions from airport were given detailed, so you couldn't go wrong. Ray has been a great host. He took care, was always helpful, and nice. I felt very comfortable. The apartment was clean, so was the entire house and there was all you need, even in the kitchen. Subway and infrastructure were walking distance. The motorway in front of the house was a bit noisy, but that's the only complain. Thanks a lot to Ray and Greg! I recommend!

The studio fits the description, the location is perfect not far from the subway, I still have some criticisms to make. Cleanliness is rudimentary, non-emptied trash, the sheets were not clean frankly, I was forced to buy the sheets and the pillow cases. The first night I used a thee-shirt as a pillow and I slept with my clothes. There must also be earplugs, this home is located along a highway, therefore it is very noisy. We had a room on the ground floor and very poorly insulated. I have not seen Greg, I have dealt with Ray, who unfortunately did nothing 'welcoming. When I arrived, I stretched my hand to greet him, without answering my greeting nor reach out to greet me, he shouted: What is your name! This is pretty impressive given its old look junkie. I have not seen him the week, the day before my departure, in the night there was a terrible racket, impossible to sleep. The next morning I went to see Ray, to ask if I could leave my luggage up to 16 h, he quickly replied without even down: do what you want, it is appreciable. Upon leaving I called Ray to hand him the keys, he came down quickly and obviously I had to disturb. My friend was in the toilet then this moment, and Ray was upset and yelled at me and told me: "why you called me since you're not ready?" He quickly climbed back screaming, simply slamming the door starting !. This accommodation is perfect for people some "roots" and low budget.

Ray was very nice and helpful. Thank you for the welcome. The only downside was the noise from the road nearby for those that can hinder. Nickel House.

The apartment is very clean and well decorated. The room with a large bed and a sofa is really wide. Not long supplied the kitchen although there is a microwave and a refrigerator, but not very suitable for certain to great for breakfast. The metro station is a 5 minute walk. Very comfortable and above all it is on line 6 which leads directly and in 15 minutes to midtown Manhattan. Clearly you do a little 'commuters. The neighborhood is virtually no tourists. It is not the Bronx film, however, at least for Italians, it remains a neighborhood "adventurous". We were ok and quality / price ratio right.
