House rules

Below is some helpful information for your stay. Please feel free to contact me at any time if you have any questions.

Check-in/Check-out: Please note that check-in is anytime AFTER 3pm and check-out is anytime BEFORE noon.

Arrival: Please let me know when you plan to arrive! If I can't meet you in person I will arrange to leave a key for you. Otherwise, please call or text me to confirm that you're on your way here and just ring the doorbell upon arrival so i can let you in. Once you have your key you are free to come and go as you like, just be sure to lock the front door and gate behind you.

Directions/Location: My house is on Santa Marina Street in San Francisco. The cross street is Mission, and Santa Marina is between Cortland Avenue and Randall Street.

Public Transportation: If you are arriving from San Francisco International Airport you can take a taxi here for about $40, or take BART (Bay Area Rapid Transit) into the city for about $7/adult, and then continue on MUNI (SF municipal bus and light rail system) for $2/adult to get within one block of here. You can exit BART at the Glen Park Station and then take the J Church train Inbound one stop and get off at San Jose Avenue/Randall Street. OR... you can exit BART at Mission/24th Street then take the 14 or 49 bus Outbound five stops and get off at Cortland Avenue.

By Car from East Bay/Oakland Airport/Bay Bridge or South Bay/SFO: US-101 - take Cesar Chavez exit heading west. At the forth stoplight turn left on Mission Street. After the third stoplight, turn left on Santa Marina St. I-280 N - take San Jose Avenue exit. At the first stoplight turn right on Randall then immediately left on Mission. Go one block and turn right on Santa Marina St.

Parking: There is free and unlimited parking on my street, just be aware of street cleaning every other week at 8am (see street signs for info). It is easy to find a space during the day, but harder in the evening when neighbors are home from work. You can almost always find a space within a block or two at the most.

Kitchen: You are welcome to use the kitchen anytime. Help yourself to coffee and tea. Feel free to cook up a storm! You have your own shelf in the refrigerator and one in the pantry for groceries. Pots and pans are on the left side of the oven, cooking utensils plus oils and spices above. Dishes, silverware, napkins, as well as cleaning supplies are all handy. The charcoal barbeque is out back; fire it up! If you need anything just ask!

Smoking: Smoking is allowed outside; there's a bench in front of the house and a table and chairs in the garden. Ashtrays provided.

Additional Guests: The guest room can accommodate a maximum of two people. No unregistered guests, please.

Length of Stay: Reservations that include a Friday or Saturday (or holiday or special event) have a two-night minimum stay. All reservations are limited to a maximum of seven nights.

We had a very pleasant stay with Kurt in his beautiful home. Very welcoming, warm and open, lots of advice during our stay. Kurt loaned us their bikes for a fabulous tour of San Francisco, told us the best places for shopping and restaurants. The room is nice, very comfortable bed, lovely garden and the bathroom spotless. In short, a real good place close to Mission Street and buses to reach the city center.

We stayed at Kurt's home for part of our honeymoon in San Francisco. We found Kurt to be extremely welcoming and he made plenty of nice touches to make our stay a romantic one. Kurt's home is lovely and a real treasure haven, there's plenty to look at and enjoy. The garden was beautiful and his two cats were very friendly. They are very much a part of the home. We were a bit apprehensive about whether or not the cats would be in our room but we spoke to Kurt about it and the cats stayed out and in the rest of the house. This is shared accommodation, Kurt works from home and often has guests visit so if you don't mind sharing then I'd recommend this as a nice place to stay on any sort of visit really. The garden is a lovely space to sit and have coffee with the cats in the morning and Kurt is usually around to answer questions about travel, restaurants and other local information. I have rated this accommodation 5 star based on it being a room in a shared apartment with shared facilities. It beats a bed and breakfast with shared facilities hands down :) We both really enjoyed our stay and hope to cross paths with Kurt again in the future.

Kurt was not home but we have met Troy that was very welcoming and ready to help. Kurt's house is very pleasant, the decoration and furniture are so beautiful! We have had the pleasure to meet Kurt at the end of our stay. Sam "the voice" and Boo "the illegal" (smuggled into the room once), the two cats are great roommates. The house is a little far from downtown, but it is really easy to get to it by bus. If you have a car, it is really easy to park the car near the house (upon arrival, we have left the car next to the house and we have travelled by us during our stay).

Kurt was a good host to us (we considered him a foodie) and very helpful in pointing out where to go / look for nice spots @ SF. His two cats Sam and Bhu were sooo cuddly and sweet! We felt right at home. :)

We had such a great stay at Kurt´s perfectly styled and homy appartment....at night a perfect rest in this quiet room with such a cozy bed (feather pillows - better than any expensive hotel..!) and 2 purring cuddly toys alive ! We felt at home from the first moment! In the morning we had breakfast in the green yard underneath a huge lemon tree...our host made us feel very welcome and helped whereever he could: especially with our "tourist-ticket-collection" (by the way: dont park in front of a hydrant...turn your wheel while parking at a steep SF street... or just listen to a good advice from Kurt and take the bus) Nevertheless it was a good time in SF at Kurts place - we both can recommend wholeheartly!!
