Description
LARGE QUIET BEDROOM: $87 a night (4 night minimum)
1 large guest bedroom available in our 3 bedroom apartment in South Harlem. (We are just 10 short blocks from Central Park, close to Columbia University, and an easy 15 minutes by to mid-town by express subway).
Yours is a back bedroom located right next to the bathroom, and separated from the rest of the living space by a 30' hallway. The bedroom is spacious and quiet, with desk, wifi, and plenty of privacy. There is a full-sized double bed with a very comfortable, deluxe futon mattress on it. We provide fresh linens, towels and light breakfast (self serve: fruit, yogurt, granola, bagels or toast, eggs, and plenty of tea and excellent coffee!)
OUR PLACE:
A comfortable, very spacious top floor apartment - the perfect space for a single traveler or couple looking to be conveniently close to everything in NYC but also able to "get away from it all". Our cool and funky flat is full of plants, artwork and music, with a large eat-in kitchen and hardwood floors throughout. There is an elevator and wifi, and you are welcome to come and go as you like - your room is closest to the front door so you will not be disturbing anyone.
OUR HARLEM NEIGHBORHOOD:
We are located in South Harlem - just 10 blocks from Central Park, in an area now affectionately being called "SoHa".
It's funky and diverse, with lots of history and character, and the streets are very broad and well-lit so its easy and safe to walk around even at night. (Check out our reviews to see what our previous guests had to say).
CAFES, BARS, RESTAURANTS:
There are lots of shops, cafes, bakeries, bistros, wine bars, beer gardens, and night clubs all within a 10 block radius, and it seems like a new restaurant is opening up every month!
HISTORIC HARLEM:
We are surrounded by Harlem brownstones, gospel churches, and old jazz haunts. The Apollo Theater, Minton's Playhouse and Lenox Lounge all only a few blocks away. Also close by is the Studio Museum of Harlem, and Celebrity Chef Marcus Samuelsson's restaurant, Red Rooster. Make sure to check out our Neighborhood Guidebook to see all the nearby shops, bars, and restaurants!
A SHORT WALK TO:
Central Park (10 minutes)
Saint John's the Divine Cathedral (15 minutes)
Columbia University (15)
Apollo Theater (5)
Morningside Park (5)
Cafe's, bars & restaurants (everywhere!)
3 subway stations (5)
GETTING DOWN TOWN:
We are just a 5 minute walk to subways 2,3,A,B,C,D and only 15 minutes by subway to midtown (Penn Station, Rockefeller Center, MOMA) or 25 minutes to downtown (West Village, SOHO, Union Square etc). Most of the major museums including the Museum of Natural History, Guggenheim, Whitney and the Met are just 30 minutes by bus or subway, or a nice walk through the park from us.
ABOUT US:
We are a couple in our mid 40's - a vegetarian chef and a guitarist/composer. We are both freelancers and spend a lot of time at home, involved in our own projects, so are looking for someone who is also quiet and respectful of the space.
