We were two people who arrived to an extremely dirty and nasty appartment, nothing like the pictures. Bad smell as well. After spending a certain amount on cleaning materials and three hours using them, we decided to contact the management. The accomodation was then upgraded to a better place around the corner for no extra fee.
The next day in the new place there was no water - and no information about that from the host. When the water came back there was no hot water and no information about that either. And then there was no heat. After SEVERAL attempts to inform the management - and a LOT of frustration - we managed to make ourself understood after many messages back and forth. We were told that the loss of water had caused the heating system to quit. But nothing happend and no one showed up to help... until the next day... After a long and very cold night in December, the cleaning lady finally came and solved the issues.
We also found that the washing machine nocked the electricity system out -
We could be spared a lot of pain if the host informed us, took our messages more seriously and showed more interest in our well being.
We did manage to enjoy the stay the last five days, with no more bad surprises and with cleaning services free of charge.
The location of the apartment is great: It is located in a small alley near the bustling Beyoglu district. Taksim Square is within walking distance. Ipek was a gracious host, even if we had to do when we arrived to do with her. But they also gave us a taxi for the day of departure, which was punctually at 4 clock in the morning in front of the door. One big advantage of the huge, two-story rooftop terrace and spectacular stunning views over the Golden Horn. Here we spent a lot of time. Next door is a mosque, that wakes you up in the morning, the muezzin - but we found the lovely and atmospheric! A minus: Some things in the apartment is a little worn and unfortunately not as clean. In addition, there is the toilet with virtually in the shower! Without slippers showers are not recommended so. Nevertheless, we felt comfortable, even if the apartment in "real" not so great looks in the pictures.
The hotel was centrally located and there were plentiful Sleeps: more beds in an apartment. It had a small kitchen with dining table, which we did not use it personally. The only drawback to the hotel was the bathroom.
The apartment on the 3rd floor of the 8 House Residence is centrally located about 10 minutes from Taksim Square. You can catch all the major metro and bus lines. When we arrived in the evening, we were overwhelmed by the beautiful view of the large mosques that are located in the district Sultanamet. Very nice we found the opportunity to use the roof terrace and to relax after a long day there. However, the terrace (upholstery dirty and uninviting by sapling totally dried up) was not maintained at the time of our visit. It definitely missing a person who lovingly cares for the object. The apartment is well laid out and nicely furnished, asking everything you need for a few days. The bathroom left a lot to be desired. The drain of the shower was clogged, so the water took several hours to drain away. We had to draw the water over a small hump, to let it flow out through the second drain below the sink, which was laboriously ziemllich! Had we not done so, we would have been forced to go to the toilet "wadding" that was located near the shower. The toilet was in the shower only separated by a curtain from the shower. This curtain was not clean but at the bottom front of black mold! A regular maintenance of the bath (and shower curtain drain) would make the otherwise simple bathroom very useful.Unfortunately, the young man spoke at the reception (when he was there, which was extremely rare) very little English, so our efforts to portray him our wishes went into the sand. We had asked for an extra bed: the folding bed, which was made available to us was miserable, so one of us had to sleep on the hard couch. An extra bed sheets was not going to get because you did not understand us! Last should learn that a mosque located in the immediate vicinity of the houses, which means that you will be woken around 5 clock in the morning from Muezin potential prospects. To the road is a thoroughfare for taxis, which means a certain noise level. Luckily we had with Ohrstöpssel, so we were still able to sleep. We have taken this Unannehmlicheiten with humor, but would not necessarily recommend the apartment and the location. There are certainly better options for the price! We had been anxious about our trip to Istanbul for half a year, also due to the apparently cozy appartment and terrace, at least according to the pictures and descriptions.
On site, we were rather disgusted than disappointed, since what we found in the basement flat next to a through narrow street was the following: a strong smell to MILDEW, cobwebs, lots of dust on the cupboards and lamps, a molded shower curtain, a bung for the shower almost impossible to adjust for a shower, light bulbs without lamp shades, a floor lamp with a broken lamp shade, towels with big holes and a strong smell to VOMIT, one room without a window/no ventilation, molded ventilation in the bathroom, a stained couch, one double bed without any blanket, no furniture on the terrace at the beginning, then a few stained, humid and smelly couches, a lid without a pot (no possibility of cooking on our own, in case we would have wanted to in this surrounding). Fortunately the weather was great and we were all over Istanbul other than in this dump.
Auf unsere Istanbul-Reise hatten wir vier Freundinnen uns schon 6 Monate gefreut, insbesondere auch auf die Wohnung, die auf den Fotos, inklusive der Dachterrasse, einen sehr einladenden Eindruck machte.
The apartment turned out on site in the basement with two narrow windows on a busy street as a "dwelling" with the following characteristics: MILDEW ODOR, cobwebs, lots of dust on shelves and lamps, moldy shower curtain, very difficult umstellbarem shower plugs, light bulbs without lampshades a floor lamp with a broken lamp shade, towels with holes and smell of vomit, no ventilation / room without windows, moldy air conditioning in the bathroom, spotty sofa, a double bed entirely without bedspread, initially missing patio furniture, after that musty, damp and stained patio furniture, a cover without pot (self-sufficiency is not possible). Luckily the weather was great and we were everywhere in Istanbul, just not in the dwelling.
The location of the apartment is good. From the roof terrace you have a great view over the city. However applies here as for everything in the apartment: It is very well photographed for the website. In our example, the furniture was not usable on the roof terrace. The best example of the difference between picture and reality is the bathroom: This is not seen in the photo, that the toilet is in the shower tray. Who does not want to get wet feet, slippers should have it. A moldy shower curtain, very unpleasant odor, broken rusted fittings are also not what you would imagine. Room Service, there were 1 to 4 days. The "fully equipped kitchen" was lousy equipped. Something positive in the end: The bedroom is quiet, there is not even hear every word from the other apartments and the Internet is fast. All in all, still acceptable. But we would not go there again.
