Description
South London - south of the River - Zone 2

I am offering a double room with the use of a bathroom in my home which is conveniently located for Central London and the West End.

A simple breakfast is included and other meals may also be offered but at extra cost. Please do not assume that all meals are included or that cooked breakfasts are a given.

My guests are more than welcome to join me in the living room in the evenings. They can watch TV and use the internet connection (WiFi) at their pleasure. My aim is that my guests should feel 'at home' so the use of the piano and garden (Summer only) is welcomed also.

My Home is located three stops (less than 10minutes) away from London Bridge Station and less than 15 minutes away from Victoria Station by overland train. I am three minutes away from the train station itself and opposite a Bus Station with buses leaving for all parts of London and beyond. The Overland Rail Service is now fully functional and links Peckham with east and west in record time. The next project is linking the area by tube.

We are in a residential street just off the main high street which offers basic shopping amenities for the local community. This is a very colourful, vibrant, ethnically diverse neighbourhood in South East London so be sure to read up on the area and decide whether or not you want to be south of the river & are comfortable staying in this part of London before you book. This area is home to many artists and writers.

We are close to Peckham Rye Park, Nunhead Cemetery & the trendy Bellendon Road area. One can take a short bus ride to fashionable East Dulwich and Camberwell.

Frank's trendy roof top bar is worth a visit in the summer and the younger crowd enjoy Bar Story.

Ganapati
We are particularly proud of the small family run, highly acclaimed local South Indian Restaurant which is located a few blocks away and serves the best Keralan food in London (Diner's Choice 2010). It has become so popular that booking well in advance all year around has become extremely popular. The are many small cafes and eating places that have now opened up in the BELLENDON area.

House rules
This is not a hotel, or a 'flat/house' sharing arrangement. You are guest in my home in what i understand to be the true spirit of WIMDU so it is appreciated when guests say hello when they arrive home in the evenings and announce that they are off in the mornings.

Bear in mind that this house was built in the Victorian era and still has many of the original features. If you are looking for modern, this is not the place for you.

I do not allow personal use of the washing machine - there are laundromats in the area.
There is no cooking allowed in my kitchen.

Most of my guests have become dear friends and we have all been known to cook together which is a different concept altogether but this is by invitation only and not to be assumed. Many of my guests who now live in the UK come to visit.

Most guests have mobile phones so the use of the telephone is NOT permitted except in exceptional circumstances and then must be reimbursed.

Hi Liz,
thanks a lot for the wonderfull 5 days my parents spent at your place. They really enjoyed it all and told us about marvellous breakfasts!
And thats what my parents like to say:

"Hi Lizy,
thank you for the wonderful time in your house. We enjoyed it very much. The extensive breakfast, your company and your help.
We are happy to come back to London and resist like we live with you .We hope you and Ralph are doing well and we look forward to a contrary view.
Love greetings and wish you a Merry Christmas.

Liz is a wonderful hostess. We were immediately received as warmly as if we awaited friends. The breakfasts were delicious and plentiful. We have had long and interesting conversations. Liz gave us many good tips. She was unlikely helpful and always spread a cheerful and relaxed atmosphere. After a Touristentag in the cold of London, there was always a bit like coming home. The hotel is a bit out, but is very good! bus and rail attached to the center of London. Everything was clean and tidy. We will gladly return!

A very pleasant, comfortable home with a bed that will encourage "sleeping in". London was quite cold during my visit and I looked forward to returning to Liz and her warm, happy home. She treated me as a long lost family member or dear friend and was eager to make my stay as comfortable as possible.

The B & B is conveniently because of (night) buses and within 20 minutes you are in the center of London. The room is small but with a good bed and a spacious shared bathroom which was very clean. The hospitality of Liz and the atmosphere during breakfast and her wonderful stories make it a memorable stay, where it is difficult to say goodbye.

Bend it like Peckham

A welcoming hug from host Elizabeth and a comforting sniff by old dog Emily: you'll feel at home straightaway in this Peckham, South London setting. The bedroom is not too big, but ever so cosy and there's a large, spotless clean bathroom with a tub at the back. Elizabeth's breakfast is a splendid wake-up call: your fresh fruit, juice, toast, eggs and cereals, just what the doctor ordered and all served a a table for two in the kitchen. Talking to her she'll give you plenty of advice about what to do and what not. And the neighbourhood, hey some people may be baffled about Peckham, since it's a melting pot really of ethnicities from around the globe. We loved it!

Finally, Moncrieff Street (probably named after English writer William Thomas Moncrieff or maybe ornithologist Perrine Moncrieff from New Zealand or pick your own from a dozen names at Wiki) is a three minute walk from the railway station, conveniently connecting in either way to Victoria or London Bridge in a 15 minute ride.

The trip to London was our first Wimdu-Travel and we where realy glad to have liz as a realy great host. It was not only the very good breakfast, but also the hints, where to go and how to get there. The whole house was very clean and our room nice. Busses and trains are easy to reach, goes realy often and you can go with them wherever you want to go.
Thanks to Liz for the graet week, we would do it every time the same way!

I stayed with Liz for a short visit to London last week! Liz found the perfect balance of being actively helpful and informative without intruding on my private space.

The bedroom and bathroom were spotlessly clean and the bed comfortable and warm as the London autumn appraoched.

Peckham is a vibrant and diverse area with many smaller eateries and pubs. Do not be put off by the very modest entrance to what appears to be a very small Victorian house. Inside the house opnes up into a spacious home into which Liz invited me with openess and generosity. Thank you; it was very enjoyable to get ot know you and Peckham! I will be back! Christopher
