This is the SoBro Guest House Located in the South Bronx aka SoBro, New York, a hustling & bustling trendy and hip neighborhood. Just search SoBro Bronx, NY and you will see what the area has to offer. We are walking distance (1 Block) to the Antique District which boasts an assortment of Cafes, Lounges, Bars, Art Galleries and Antique shops. Alexander's Bar on Alexander Ave, The Piano Factory, Bruckner Bar and Grill, DJ EMBE just to name a few.

You can walk to Manhattan over the Willis Ave Bridge which is located on the corner. Or jump on the # 6 Train and you are only one stop away from the City of NY! The # 6 train is located approximately 4 blocks away or a 5 minute walk. Yankee Stadium is about a half hour walk or 10 minute train ride. And if you don't feel like going to NYC you have lots of shopping right here in the neighborhood. The Guest House is easily accessible from JFK, Newark, and La Guardia Airports via the Metro so you do not have to waste money on taking a taxi.

We would advise that only the adventurous and more open minded stay here. We are ideally located very close to Manhattan. Literally a 5 minute walk over the Willis Avenue Bridge and only 1 stop away via the underground. The neighborhood is considered very safe. It is jumping and unbelievably vibrant and once you step outside the Guest House you will be living amongst real New Yorker's, not tourists. This may be enticing to some but scary to others, so take it for what its worth.

The building itself is very safe and secure. Ray lives on premise and can deal with any issues should they arise. The room is private with your own lock and key. Fresh bed linens and towels are provided. Share 2 full baths and basic cooking facilities with the other guests. We have long term international students and tourists staying with us from all over the world. The room has a full size bed and is located on the 3rd Floor of a renovated Mott Haven Brownstone. There is a mini-fridge and 32" Plasma TV located inside the room. But your in New York... how much time do you plan to spend inside??

September 2015

We came to greg's place but never met him. First of all i'll talk about the room and location.the location was good near the metro station (3av or brook av maybe 5/6 minutes. The neighborhood was ok. You've got everything you need around like supermarkets, food, drinks... there is a police station next to the metro station to make you feel safe if needed. It is about 30min to times square. That was really nice. The room was good and pretty clean. We stayed 4 nights and the mattress was good for two persons. You've got a fridge which is cool if you want to store some food or drinks.there is also a tv but we did not have time to watch it. A little issue for us was maybe the noise of cars if your room is by the road. It was hars for us to sleep the first night because of the noise. And the following 3 nights were good either we were tired or used to. There is aircon which is appreciated when it is warmNow i would like to talk about the guy who welcomed us. Instead of Greg, it was Ray who opened the door. Our flight landed late at 22pm.I wrote to greg before booking if it is a problem to check in late and he told me he is fine with the arrival around midnight. But finally it took quite long to get through the immigration. So I texted him to tell that i am sorry but we gonna be late. He never answered but that's fine. When we get the house around 00.45am I called him to be sure we were in front of the right house. He was very nice at the phone. But the person who opened the door was Ray.He was extremely rude, not really nice, I said ok that's late I understand it is annoying to welcome people that late. Others reviews said that at the first sight he looks rude and unhappy but he wasn't. So i wanted to see how he is the day afterUnfortunately for us each time I wanted to talk to him he was stuck in his room and when i knocked at his door he showed up as if he just woke up and looke so unfriendly and almost mad at us. I asked him if we can let our luggage because ouf flight is late.we would like to come at 8pm to pick our luggage up.He told me come tomorrow morning to my room and i will tell you what to do: "if there is no one who books the room you can keep the key and let your stuff in the room" . So I went to his room at 10am and i woke him up. He hardly opened the door and told me to keep the key. Then we came back at 7.30pm just wanna take some clothes from the luggage go to toilets and wash my hands and feets. When I was in the bathroom Ray waq coming and screaming like hell.I think if you are looking for a place you can share experience of the city it is not your place. You cannot share anything with him. When you talk to him it is like he doesnt care to show you that you bother him. Unbelievable. As I said each time we wanted to ask something it costs him a lot. For the same price and location I think you can find something much better where people could be happy to welcome you. Except for the price no really interedt to come here.

The SoBro Guesthouse I can wholeheartedly recommend for younger and open-minded people. The value for money is unbeatable. The area may seem a bit obscure at first glance, but when you have settled in, you learn the Bronx and Mott Haven know as original and warm, unlike the gentrified Manhattan ... The nearest underground station is just 5 minutes walk and also shops and restaurants can be found just around the corner.
Downtown Manhattan is achieved with the express trains in about 20min.
The room we had booked, but was a bit small for a couple with 10 nights in the long run, so I would book with a repeated stay one of the larger rooms on the 2nd floor. The bathroom and kitchen were clean, Ray was very helpful.
We will definitely be back!

I really liked. It is close to the subway and before long you are in the center of NY. If someday I return to NY, again!

I enjoyed the place. It was close to lots of stores for foods or anything you need. It was clean and organized. I felt safe staying there which was the most important factor for me. Greg, the host was so helpful and prompt in answering any questions I had.

Thank you very much. I would definitely come back next time I'm in NY and I will.
