"Retro 1970's" is an understatement
"modern design" The apartment has basically been untouched since the 1960's. There is a King size bedroom with an actual king size bed and a walk-in closet. Attached is a smaller bedroom with a double bed. Right off the living room is a 3rd separate room with a queen size bed. The bathroom is tiny but who has time to take relaxing baths when visiting the City that never sleeps. There is a washing machine in the kitchen and a clothing line off of the kitchen window as well as a medicine cabinet above the the gorgeous cast iron farmers sink. The most modern appliance in the apartment is the microwave and I have also installed WiFi so that you can catch some Archie Bunker All In The Family re-runs on your iPad. The living room is descent size with a bed sofa and and room for dining. This apartment is very clean but not at all luxurious so its more suitable for a family on a budget or backpacking students. You are more then welcome to use the backyard were there is a small BBQ grill at your disposal. The block is very quite but you are only 3 blocks from the 39th ave N & Q subway stop which will take you in to midtown Manhattan in 7 minutes 2 stops to Lexington Ave or you can also take a 30 min stroll to Central Park over the 59 Street Bridge. This 2 story house was built around 1873 and it is one of the oldest brick houses in Dutch Kills. If you are drawn to the unusual and a hint of adventure you will absolutely love to make this apartment your home while visiting New York City!!!
Is the area safe?- The neighborhood Dutch Kills is very safe, only 3 blocks from the N and Q subway station 2 stops from Lexington Ave in midtown Manhattan.
Is there any Parking?- There is plenty of street overnight parking, you can choose a meter right in front of the apartment where you pay $.25 per 15 min between Mon-Sat 9am-7pm or half a block away you can find free 24/7 parking with street cleaning rules on thursday and friday between 8.30-10am. I will add that it is quite hard to find any parking during a weekday business hours due to the fact that many commuters park in the area since its so close to Manhattan. There is also a parking garage right across the street where you can park for $10 per day.
Do you accept credit cards?- Airbnb takes care of the whole reservation process and they accept all mayor credit cards.
Is there an elevator in the building? Im so sorry there is no elevator. The apartment is on the second floor one flight up.
How is the area around the apartment? This area is called Dutch Kills and its a a small neighborhood right in between Astoria and Long Island City to very popular destinations for cafe's and restaurants. We have 3 very famous galleries with in a walking distance. Fisher Landau Center for Art, Flux Factory and PS1 which is part of the Modern Museum of Art (MoMa) Since this area is so close to Queensboro Bridge the main transportation hub of Queens this has traditionally been a place for back businesses supplying Manhattan with bread, truffles, silk, etc but over the last 10 years artists have taken over these warehouse spaces and made them into work/live loft studios. Its a very interesting area and I think you will be very pleased.
Best wishes, Steffan Olausson Partridge

Très bon séjour dans la maison de Stéphane,très bien située (3 minutes du métro). Confort un peu spartiate, quelques aménagements seraient bienvenus.
Had an amazing time in Long island City. The apartment was basic but totally met our family's needs. The beds were very comfortable although one of the beds could do with being changed as it sagged in the middle. The location was excellent quiet enough with local shops and subway at the bottom of the street so getting to Manhattan was easy. Steffan was very friendly without being intrusive and what he is trying to do to the area was very inspirational ie communal garden. this was also a great way to meet the people who lived in the area. We will return !
Character apartment, very well located (3min walk to the subway) and 15min from Times Square, quiet with a small garden. Welcome, our room was spotless.
Appartement de caractère, très bien situé (à 3min à pied du métro) et à 15min de Time square, au calme avec un petit jardin en contrebas. Bon accueil, notre séjour était impeccable.
