Magnifique Monceau 1 Bedroom
- Family/child friendly
- Indoor fireplace
|Address||Rue Claude Pouillet, 75017 Paris, France|
Parc Monceau, unknown to most visitors, is just a short stroll away. Built by the Duke of Burgundy in 1769, it became a park in 1860. Since then Monet has painted it, newly weds are photographed amongst its faux Roman and Egyptian ruins, children play, joggers jog, and local residents gather to enjoy the beauty and calm.
In addition to the park, you are right at rue de Levis, one of the best year-round street markets in Paris. You can find everything you need for a picnic, a sumptuous ready-made meal at home, or the makings of your own feast. Outstanding charcuteries, poissonnerie, fromagerie, boulangerie, the best wine shops, bakeries, chocolates- it's all just a few steps from the front door.
Metro Villiers, one of the best metro stops in the city, connects you to Metro lines 2 and 3, giving you quick, no change access to many of Paris's high spots- everything from the Champs Elysee to Galleries Lafayette!
The apartment is tucked away on a tiny side street, providing a quiet haven after a day (or night!) in the city.
Once inside you will find a bright, well laid out and inviting pied a terre. The apartment has windows on both sides which provide light throughout the day.
The wide plank, herringbone parquet floors date the apartment to sometime before 1875 and some of the antique furniture is from the same era.
Original ceiling moulding adorn the main rooms of the flat.
The entry foyer of the apartment has a large storage area for extra linens, towels, coats, suitcases and more. It's a great spot to drop your bags after a day shopping around the street market.
This foyer leads directly into a living room with large windows, an antique armoire and bookcase (with plenty of guide books about Paris) as well as a traditional, French gold mirror over the fireplace.
We've also added some modern touches such as a very comfortable sofa that converts to a bed for two and a television with a DVD player. We've even stocked an eclectic collection of movies.
One of the rare features of this apartment is the large dining room.
Bright and sunny, the dining room has a lovely antique table making it just right for enjoying a meal at home or some coffee and a fresh croissant in the morning.
There is also desk in this room with a permanent, broadband linked computer.
We have opened the wall between dining room and the kitchen making the area even more luminous.
The very well equipped kitchen has all of the conveniences you would need to prepare anything from light snacks to sumptuous meals (made with a fresh selection of ingredients from the rue de Levis marché).
The bedroom is accessible either by walking through the living room or by going through the kitchen area to the bathroom.
This provides the utmost in privacy should there be someone sleeping on the sofa bed in the living room.
Our cosy bedroom has a comfortable queen sized bed, ready to fall into at the end of a busy day.
It's also a lovely room to wake up in as it has a window directly across from the bed.
For your convenience, we have a classic armoire to store your belongings in, reading lights on either side of the bed and an alarm clock (although we hope you have come for a relaxing vacation and not use it too much).
The bright combined toilet and bathroom have all the modern amenities needed.
The over sized shower head provides wonderful morning and if you look closely you will notice that the white rectangular tiles look very familiar...(think of the Paris metro stations if you have been here before)
Come and see for yourself the magic of Magnifique Monceau...it's all waiting for you.

Reviews of this property
Magnifique Monceau is a lovely little apartment; clean, with a comfortable bed as well as sleep sofa and a nice sized and well-appointed kitchen. Having a washing machine was handy; no clothes dryer, but there is a laundromat just down the street. Close to markets; stores and metro. The apartment has trolly for shopping; drying rack; iron; hair dryers; television; computer; metro maps and info books. Gail was easy to communicate with and was very accommodating. A bottle of wine was waiting for us as a welcoming. It is a walk-up apartment, something to keep in mind if carrying a heavy or bulky suitcase. Although it was overall a positive experience, the only issue was damage to the dining room table. After returning home, I received a message about and photos of the kitchen table, damaged with burn marks. Not only was the table was in perfect condition when we left, but neither of us smoke, so I cannot imagine how the burn marks were made, nor did we burn candles. As there are no electrical outlets in the eating area, it was not even possible to have burned it with some sort of appliance. We tried to leave the apartment in as clean a condition as possible, including emptying all trash, emptying the fridge and taking the linens off of the beds. There were dishes in the dishwasher, but they were clean as we ran it right after breakfast before departing for the airport. It is a shame that there was damage to a nice table. We would have taken responsibility for it had we caused the damage, but again, we left that apartment with all furnishings in the same condition as they were upon check-in. It is a shame that this would mar an otherwise positive experience for both us and the property managers.
