LOCATION AND SURROUNDINGS

Amsterdam North

Originally seen Amsterdam North is one of the newest neighborhoods of the city. At the beginning of the 20th century, the area of Amsterdam North and the IJ River bay was annexed by Amsterdam. The development plans for this area were initially focused industrially. As a result multinational Shell was established here and large shipyards of ADM and NDSM. After these industrial areas were bombed during World War II, it was decided to quit the industry. On the former ADM grounds, new residential houses were built and the NDSM area has attracted many artists and creative people to settle down.

Currently, Amsterdam North is known for its many parks and garden villages, it has a lot of nature. The Vliegenbos was for a long time the largest park in the city and is perfect to spend a day. In Amsterdam North you will get the feeling of village-life, whereas you will be at Central Station within a few minutes by ferry; this makes Amsterdam North a very attractive neighborhood: relative quiet but the center is within easy reach. It is an ideal area to stay when you are visiting with family or friends.

It was a great stay. The charming hosts Henk and Yvonne are living with on the Hausbbot us directly and have declared the area and given tips. Because Yvonne's birthday and various redesigns, we get instead of the booked room the higher loft at the same price. It was all very clean and bright breakfast was lovingly prepared and plentiful. The environment is quiet and in about 10 minutes to get through the park to the bus stop. The buses run very frequently directly to the city. The car we were able to park for free at the house boat. We can use this property (in the case of A200) highly recommend!

Very pleasant stay on a houseboat in the countryside a few miles from City Centre (8 minutes by bus). All explanations given by our host for travel and good restaurant addresses. Parking by the house. Our only concern is not having enough command of English to be able to converse more with our guests.

We had a fantastic stay with Henk and Yvonne. We were given a warm welcome and immediately upgraded to the upstairs studio accommodation free of charge as the people who had booked it had cancelled at the last minute.

Our hosts gave us all the information we needed regarding local transport links, facilities and attractions then left us in peace to enjoy our stay. The studio was clean, tidy, light and kitted out with everything you could need plus a few nice extras such as soft white fluffy dressing gowns.

The breakfasts were good and generously portioned and our hosts were even kind enough to give us some complimentary Dutch oliebollen buns on New Year's Eve.

The house boat was easy to find by car and it genuinely is a short and simple bus ride away from the centre of Amsterdam.

I would highly recommend this houseboat and would happily stay there again.

We recommend this well located and spacious houseboat (bus, tram, shops, ...) within 10 minutes from the center but quiet! A very enjoyable way to dive into the special atmosphere of Amsterdam.

City centre Apartment With Garden (A338)

Very neat. Located next to the canal, small quiet garden, yet right in the center. The bathroom and separate toilet are getting a bit old, but clean and functional. The apartment is spacious, technically well equipped including WiFi.

The landlady is friendly and helpful.

Parking is in Amsterdam, of course, a problem. But we found previously in Moby-Park an enclosed underground garage relatively inexpensive, the foot is in the Valkenburgstraat the apartment.

The connection to public transport is very good, within walking distance to various trams.

Overall recommended.
