The appartment is far from being comfortable. It is very dirty - most of the kitchenware was sticky from dirt. The kitchen appliances are very old, poor quality and insuficient. There is no dishwasher, no coffee mashine. The water in the kitchen is cold - it was very hard to wash the dishes. The apartment is very noisy - despite it is situated on the 4th floor (narrow staircase, no evevator). The noice from the street in the room from the street is unbearable. I really don't recomend this appartment for more than 2 people - despite it is quite big, there is only one small bedroom you can use in comfort. Definitlly not for kids. The owner was kind at first but I have never met him - he send his friend to give as the keys. After I have given him my recomendation in a private message I have received a very unfair opinion on wimdu - just because I haven't washed the dishes in his cold water because I had to rush for the airport in the morning. My stay in Rome was fine, but definitlly thanks to Rome, not to this appartment.
This apartment was indeed a very large one on the fourth floor of a centrally located building. The location was right in the center of a large commercial district which was perfect for us. We only had to walk across the street to get gelato and we did too often. There were a large variety of restaurants in the area to choose from when we went out to eat and Luigi had recommendations on a list in a large pile of local information. Going for a neighborhood walk was an enjoyable window shopping experience. Luigi and Carmen were easy to work with and very accommodating to our needs. However, we were surprised when we saw there was no elevator (nothing mentioned this in the Wimdu listing) so we soon realized that we had 72 steps to climb each time we returned and 72 steps to walk down each time we went somewhere. We hoped for an easier time with things. The kitchen was a very small area against a wall in the living room. It was furnished with odds and ends. The countertop looked very dirty but upon closer examination, it looked to just need a polish and sealant. There was no toaster and no dishwasher either so we had to eat out more often than we planned. The washer was confusing for us to use and we did not realize the Italian instructions explained there was no dryer (even though the listing stated there was a dryer) so we thought we were doing something wrong in drying our clothes until Luigi told us differently. I'd have liked some basic instruction in English. We were told how to recycle and shown the many tubs and bags used for recycling but we soon lost the understanding of what went where. Again, labels in English (or any language guests understood) could help them recycle easier. Wifi was slow and only worked in the main room which was frustrating in the back bedroom. And noise in the front room while sleeping in the sofa sleeper was enough to need ear plugs. The back bedroom is isolated from the street noise, but every morning we were greeted with dogs barking us awake. The views from the open window (not a balcony or terrace) were limited and one had to stretch out the window to get a view of more than the opposite side of the street. Nerve racking four flights up.
I am also a host on Wimdu so this experience was enlightening to me and I plan to incorporate instructions in other languages in my rentals as soon as I return home. I was more detailed here because I would have chosen another place if I knew before I arrived what I discovered. Luigi did arrange a driver for us to be driven to the Rome airport to catch an early flight for a moderate charge because he knew the family. All in all, our stay was overall more satisfactory than not and our legs and lungs are in better shape from the many times we climbed the stairs so we came away better people.
We had a nice stay in Rome. The apartment was well equipped and with a great location. Luigi was the perfect host. We can recommend staying in his apartment.
Better than advertised
Great location, stylish apartment with lots of room.
Would recommend this place to my friends in a hearbeat
We have a great time in rom. Especially with the informations about the options "eat, drink and gelati" :-) from luigi. The apartment is in top conditions. Thank you luigi.
We (my husband, our two children and I) just spent 7 days in Rome in Luigi's wonderful apartment. Luigi waited for us in the apartment when we arrived in the evening and he had prepared a map for us with the best local restaurants and ice cream shops. He is just wonderful! We were SO excited and the flat was much bigger than we anticipated so it was easy to get a bit of peace. The flat is situated in the middle of Rome, 10-15 minutes walk from the three most famous ice cream shops according to the guide "Rome with kids" (recommended!) so we tested all three :-). The size and location of the flat makes it perfect for travelling with kids because it's easy to go home in the middle of the day and take a break from the turist attractions which are just next door (The Trevi Fountain, Piazza Navona, The Pantheon, The Peters Basilica, The Vatican Museum etc) - all of which can be combined with terrific ice cream ;-). I can onlly recommend that you test this flat if you're going to Rome - you won't regret it!
We loved staying in Luigis wonderful apartment in Rome. Luigi was the best host we've ever had as he contacted us before our trip letting us know that we could ask him about anything and everything. As we arrived in Rome he met us by the apartment and served us wine and cake which we appreachiated after our flight from Sweden. The apartment was nice and clean and we spent several nights out on the balcony. We would recommend this apartment to everyone! Thank you for a great visit Luigi!
The apartment is very nice and in the center, a few steps from Piazza del Popolo. The owners and the lady who helps them are very kind and helpful. Absolutely recommended!
