The oldest district of Lisbon, it spreads down the southern slope from the Castle of São Jorge to the Tagus river. Its name, derived from the Arabic Al-hamma, means fountains or baths. During the Islamic invasion of Iberia, the Alfama constituted the largest part of the city, extending west to the Baixa neighborhood. Increasingly, the Alfama became inhabited by fishermen and the poor: its fame as a poor neighborhood continues to this day. While the 1755 Lisbon Earthquake caused considerable damage throughout the capital, the Alfama survived with little damage, due to its compact labyrinth of narrow streets and small squares. It is a historical quarter of mixed-used buildings of homes with small shops, Fado bars and restaurants.
It's strategic location comes along with additional advantages;
- At two minute walk from the 'Santa Apolonia' metro station.
- Alfama is the oldest Quarter of the city with a good variety
of restaurants and cafes, and the best fado houses available.
- The house is conviniently located near by the Feira da Ladra (outdoor Flea market).
- Close to: National Panteão, Monastery of São Vicente,
Fado Museum and Military Museum.
- Lux Nightclub.
We welcome you!

Great and cosy flat with a beautiful view and a lot of charm.
A good located place to explore
The hosts were very friendly and accommodating. You have told us a lot of the city and gave us good tips. The room is very comfortably and tastefully furnished. The sharing of the apartment was not an issue. For a view of the Tagus to the stairs climb was worth. The neighborhood is very nice, we could do a lot of walking, but were also directly at the train station. We would be the room to others.
Very relaxed and friendly host, flat in a nice and central area, room with a nice view - good choice
Very nice, proper and quiet room, in the middle of Alfama with great view on Tejo. Very nice host as well. Really enjoyed my stay !
Very nice place and cozy for a weekend holiday in Lisbon. We would recommend the place for its location and its view!
Fernando's friend was very responsive during our stay and Fernando has been flexible for the dates and time of our arrival/departure, which made us feel very welcom.
Thank you again !
I can only recommend to stay in Fernando's apartment. It is very cozy and everything is available, what is needed. And the hosts are super friendly. Tourist locations are easy to reach on foot. In particular, the proximity to the Santa Apolonia train station is a big plus. From there you can get almost everything in Lisbon and the surrounding area can be reached by subway or bus.
I spent 4 days in Fernando's flat and I really loved his place. It's located in Alfama, one of the oldest neighborhoods of Lisbon, and very close to Santa Apolonia train station, which is very useful. From the house there's a wonderful view of Tago river. Unfortunately, we couldn't meet Fernando and Amir, but they were extremely nice to us, and made us feel like we were at home, which is very nice and clean.
We had a great experience at the home of Fernando, a very friendly person and friend. The room was large, with a beautiful view of the Tagus, the bathroom very clean and spacious and the neighborhood where it is located very nice with several bakeries, bars, restaurants and Fado houses. Surely we will return to host us at his residence.
I can only recommend the stay at Fernando's and Amir's place. It's very cozy and everything is available what is needed. And the hosts are super friendly and supporting hosts. It is obvious that they know very well what Lisbon travellers need. Besides the apartment itself with nice views over the Tejo river I liked the location of the house very much. It's at the edge of Alfama in a nice and very quiet street with all the necessary infrastructure a few steps nearby. Touristic places can be easily reached by foot, but the place itself is outside the big tourist huzzle and buzzle. Especially the close proximity to Santa Apolónia station is a big plus. From there you can reach nearly everything in Lisbon and surroundings with train, metro or bus. If I had the opportunity I would come here again.
A very nice property with beautiful views of the Tagus. Fernando and Amir are incredibly hospitable! I can only recommend!
Eine sehr nette Unterkunft mit schöne Ausblick auf die Tejo. Fernando und Amir sind unglaublich gastfreundlich! Kann ich nur weiterempfehlen!
