Varna is a stunning seaside resort on the Bulgarian Black Sea Coast and a visit here will be one to remember. Bulgaria has many archaeological sites and the world’s oldest golden treasure, dating back to approximately 4600BC was found in Varna Necropolis, also known as one of the largest prehistoric cemeteries in Europe. You can see this treasure in the Gold of Varna exhibit at the Varna Archaeological Museum which is an absolute must see when you visit Varna. Another wonderful place to visit is the Sea Garden which is considered a national monument of landscape architecture and one of Varna’s oldest and most well know parks. This is the perfect place to relax, unwind, have a picnic and take a pleasant stroll. Also here are the Varna Naval Museum, the Museum of Natural History, the Varna Zoo, a children’s amusement park, the Varna Aquarium and a wonderful open air theatre. You will also find a beautiful waterfront promenade here where there is access to the beaches and range of beachside clubs to cater for any musical taste. Just outside the city there are some other notable places to visit. These include Euxinograd, a lovely palace complete with a stunning park and winery. The Pobiti Kamani which is a mysterious rock phenomenon consisting of a series of groups of natural rocks and has generated a number of theories as to its origins. Also fascinating is Aladzha Monastery, a medieval Orthodox Christian cave monastery situated in the Golden Sands Nature Park.
